Swink celebrates its 18th anniversary

Swink is celebrating its 18th anniversary today. Just like for a human being, the journey to your 18th birthday is a voyage of discovery. For us as a company, that meant many changes over those 18 years.

The start of the journey

Swink started 18 years ago on November 1, 2007, with one client: Erasmus MC. We did content management work for them. 18 years later, they are still with us. Not long after Erasmus, the Amstel Academy of Amsterdam UMC also joined Swink. They are still our clients today.

Sometimes there are bumps in the road

Just like growing up, companies also face challenges. Over the years, we have set up various services. That is always exciting. Does the offering suit our clients? And does the work suit our colleagues?

Some services ultimately proved not to be a good fit. So we stopped offering them. For example, we no longer offer data analytics services. Cybersecurity also proved not to be a good fit. That's a shame, but we learn from it. We continue to try new things all the time. This ensures that our clients always receive the best services based on the latest insights.

The only way is up

And then came the 18th year. Looking back, a lot has changed. Whereas content management and migration work used to be the focus, that is no longer the case. Digital accessibility has been the sole focus within Swink for a number of years now. This service has grown enormously in just a few years. Although it is challenging for a company to make such a change, we have been very successful.

We have now gained a wealth of knowledge and experience in all aspects of digital accessibility. This includes researching websites, making PDFs accessible, and providing training and awareness sessions. It is no coincidence that we have built up a strong reputation. The American company Deque Systems has also recognized this. At the start of ‘year 18’, this led to a great collaboration with this company. This allows us to offer our customers even better services and gives Swink a more international presence.

For our 19th year, our goal is to push boundaries. We want to offer even more colleagues a great opportunity in the field of accessibility. We are currently working hard on this with a group of new colleagues in training. And we are going to focus on international assignments. Because greater inclusion through digital accessibility and opportunities for people with autism is important throughout Europe.

As a young adult, Swink is in a good position. We are extremely proud of that. Here's to the next 18 years!
