AUDIT
Digital accessibility audit
You want to improve the accessibility of your website or app. And comply with accessibility legislation. But how do you do that? With a digital accessibility audit, you know how to make your website or app accessible. With our practical approach, you can get started right away with the findings!
Of course, you want an audit that meets the legal requirements so you can use it for your accessibility statement. This is why we conduct our audits according to the WCAG-EM method based on the WCAG 2.2, level AA guidelines. This is the international standard for digital accessibility.
Why an accessibility audit?
An audit is an accessibility study that shows how accessible your website or app is. It gives insight into which problems exist and how you can solve them. Moreover, you can use it as evidence for the accessibility statement. As a government organization, you thus comply with the law. So a WCAG audit is the basis of your route to digital accessibility.
A regular WCAG test is important not only because it is required by law. It also has other benefits. If your website is accessible, more people can use it. Not only does this allow you to reach a larger audience, it also shows that you are a socially responsible organization.
Take note: have your website surveyed regularly! This is because the survey results are valid for 3 years for your accessibility statement. Moreover, websites and the technology used are constantly changing. So check regularly whether your site is WCAG-proof.
Research according to international WCAG standards
Accessibility testing is work for specialists. We test against the WCAG 2.2 AA guideline. This is the standard that a digitally accessible app, website or intranet must meet. We carry out the research according to the WCAG-EM method. This is the international standard for accessibility research.
Thanks to the expertise of our specialists, you are assured of a high-quality research report. This allows you to make your website truly accessible for everyone. Or have it independently confirmed that your online platform is already accessible.

Types of accessibility audits
In addition to standard audits, we also offer other types of audits.
Quick scan digital accessibility
A quick scan gives a first indication of possible accessibility issues. Here we focus mainly on problems that can be solved quickly, such as contrast problems, missing alternative texts for images and header structure. The quick scan gives an indication and can also be used, for example, to address the importance of digital accessibility internally.
System audit
This is a partial audit and is of interest to suppliers of software platforms. It provides a complete picture of the digital accessibility of the technical component of your platform. This audit can be used as evidence for the accessibility statement.
Content audit
If a system audit has already been conducted of the platform you are using, you only need a content audit for the accessibility statement. In a content audit, only the content as entered by your editors is checked for accessibility.
Baseline digital accessibility audit
This is the most comprehensive survey. It gives a complete picture of the digital accessibility of the agreed domain as well as an overview of all types of occurring problems. This survey can therefore be used as evidence for the accessibility statement and to solve the most important structural problems.

This is how we conduct a digital accessibility audit
1. The intake
We start each audit with an intake meeting. Together, we discuss which (sub)domain(s) and/or apps you want us to examine. The result of the intake is an estimate of the number of hours for the audit. This way you know exactly what we will examine and what the costs will be.
2. The examination
We examine a selection of your website's pages. One of our digital accessibility specialists determines the sample according to the WCAG-EM guideline. This is the W3C's standard evaluation methodology for testing digital accessibility. As a guideline, we inspect an average of 12 to 18 pages based on 50 criteria. When auditing, we work according to the WCAG 2.2 AA standard. This is the accessibility level that governments must meet.
3. The result
The result of the audit is a comprehensive report and a management summary. Discussing the report is also a standard part of this process. Do you need more extensive explanation or guidance? We are happy to help you with, for example, a presentation on location, an awareness session, new (more extensive) audits or consultancy.
4. Recheck (optional)
Do you make changes right away based on the results of the audit? You can then have a recheck done by us within 40 business days of the first audit. We check the changes so that the accessibility of your domain is demonstrably improved. You can then also update the accessibility statement.
